Double Issue is a nonprofit annual print magazine + Community.
We’ve learned that the way we fight for issues that matter is the same today as the way we fought for them 100 years ago. You could recreate a protest poster from the 1950s and carry it to the Women’s March or a Black Lives Matter rally and no one in the crowd will notice the difference.
We have come so far and have forever to go.
We have come so far and have forever to go.
That's why the stories in Double Issue come in pairs of time. The stories from the past teach us how freedom’s torchbearers kept it alight in their era. The stories from the present inspire us to keep believing in the progress that is up to us to win again. By looking at the causes side-by-side, we hope we’ll be able to find and share something valuable for the future of the movement.
Although many of our stories will appear on this site, we believe in the power of print. There's a proud tradition of printing presses, social zines, and hand-painted signs making a mark on society that we want to carry forward with a community of passionate writers, artists, and activists.
Thank you for also being part of the Double Issue community. We're a fiscally sponsored project of SOMArts, which means we're a nonprofit and would love your charitable tax deductible support. Every dollar we earn will be used to pay our contributors and allow us to print the next issue. If you have an idea for a story or want to be a contributor, contact us here.
Remember the Future,
Aaron, Bosco, Carrie + Tim
