Personal Freedom Actions

Here are a few real things you can do where you live to add to the arc of progress you read about in the pages of our first issue.
Picture
  1. Become a monthly donor to your closest Planned Parenthood clinic. They are planners after all and it helps them know they can count on your $10 or $100 every month.
  2. Write “THANK YOU” on a $20 bill and give it as a tip to a bartender or drag performer at your favorite local queer bar. Because while they’re serving vodka-sodas and warrior princess realness, they’re also serving the community.
  3. Read Another Country by James Baldwin. Set in 1950s Greenwich Village, the novel touches on what were (and are) major taboos of the time: interracial couples, queer sex, and liberal white guilt.
  4. Swim in a hot spring without your swimsuit. The internet will help you find one near you.
When you’re done with all that and feel like you have more to give, remember that Double Issue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit passion project and we could use your help. We believe in paying our contributors and we believe in the (pricey) value of print.

Donate here to help us make the next issue or buy your friends a copy of the current one to read and keep on their bookshelves.
